  2. Registration
    1. Online Signups
      1. Registration must be completed in advance to the tournament before Tuesday 18th March 2008 @ 13:00.
      2. Tournament registration is limited to 128 players. Signing up as a participant to i33 does not guarantee a place in the tournament.
    2. On-site Signups
      1. Players are required to sign in to the event as a BYOC Participant in order to take part in the tournament. On-site Tournament Registration will run while places are available, on Friday 21st March for a limited time only. Players who do not signup either online or on-site by this time will not be allowed to compete.
    3. Participants
      1. By registering and participating in the i33 tournaments, all participants agree to abide by the rules of the tournament and the i-Series Code of Conduct
  3. Tournament Format
    1. Matches
      1. All matches are played as the best of 3 maps. The player listed first in the match picks the first map, the player listed second picks the second map. In the event of a third map being needed, the player with the most total frags over the first two maps will pick the third map. In the event of a tie on frags of the first two maps, the third map will be picked by process of elimination.
      2. The Map Pool for the competition is currently TBD.
    2. Draws
      1. In the event of a tied map, standard UT3 Overtime will be used.
    3. Ranking and Promotion
      1. Players receive 3 ranking points for a victory, 1 point for a draw and 0 ranking points for a loss in the group stages. At the end of the group stages, the top 2 players in the group will continue into the elimination stages of the prize-winning tournament.
      2. Players are ranked by their ranking points. If two players have an equal amount of points, the outcome of the match between the tied players determines the rank.
  4. Match Servers
    1. No spectators of any kind will be allowed in game other than the designated admin for that game.
    2. Tournament servers will have passwords assigned. You can find out the password from the tournament staff and in irc on the day of the tournament.
    3. Matches will be played with the latest version of the CustomUT Competition Mod.
  5. Match Rules
    1. Match Format
      1. Matches are played for 15 minutes on each map as detailed above.
    2. IRC Channels
      1. The tournament largely relies on IRC to convey tournament updates so please ensure you have a copy installed. A client may be downloaded here.
      2. #unreal - The general Unreal channel for the i-series event. All Unreal admins will be opped, so please direct your queries to these people. Please be patient for a reply as we may be either in a game or dealing with other issues and may be away from our desk.
    3. Match Starts
      1. The match may not begin before the admin is ready. Players must be in the server 5 minutes before the scheduled start time of the match. If a match is still in progress on your allocated server, await authorisation from an admin before joining the server. If any player fails to show up 10 minutes after the scheduled match start, the match will be forfeit and the opposing player will be awarded the win. The only acceptable excuses for missing the scheduled start of a match are:
        • Network failure
        • Server failure
        • Power failure
        • Previous match overrunning
    4. Demos & Screenshots
      1. All players must record demos from the whole match. Both players may request the demos from the game. To record a demo, use the “record demo” option in menu before the game starts.
      2. Demos must be kept until the result has been accepted on the tournament system. If either player decides to request demos they must explain their reasons for doing so.
      3. If a player fails to provide all the requested demos, or if some of the requested demos are broken or missing 2 or more minutes of match time, the other clan may request that the match be cancelled. Players repeatedly failing to provide demos will be removed.
      4. In case a player wants demos from the opponent the player should immediately state the exact demos they want.
      5. After the requested demos are sent, the complaining player has 30 minutes to specify specific points in the demo to check. If they fail to do so it will be assumed they have no complaints about the demos anymore.
  6. Game-play Rules
    1. Cheating
      1. It is not allowed to take advantage of or abuse bugs. Any kind of bug abuse is considered cheating and will lead to a forfeit loss, unless otherwise mentioned specifically in the game-related rules.
      2. All programs or files, either changed game files or new files, that change the game or add to its functionality, or which interact with the game in any way, are strictly forbidden. Modified versions of the game’s resource files are always forbidden, regardless of what they do. The use of any forbidden program or file by any player member during a match, leads to a forfeit loss, and could lead to a removal and ban from the i-Series in major cases.
      3. Programs that do not interact with the game in any way are allowed, even if they can be used and operated simultaneously with the game. Voice communication and Instant Messenger programs are examples of such programs.
      4. The use of a vehicle is prohibited throughout the whole match. Any kills attributed to its use will result in a forfeit loss. Anyone found ‘hiding’ in a vehicle or turret to avoid their opponent will result in a forfeit loss.
      5. The use of super-items is prohibited, except for the Shield Belt. Picking up any of the remaining items will result in a default loss of the match
      6. The use of illegal binds or hardware macros that simulate timed button presses is prohibited.
