Packard Bell iPower Games UK Finals

Building on the success of iPower 2007 in Lisbon, Packard Bell are back to find the best gamers in the world! The iPower Games are a unique and exciting global competition that spans both genres and play styles.

The iPower Games is split into two sections, one for FPS gamers and one for RTS gamers. The FPS section requires teams to compete in both Activision’s flagship Call of Duty 4 and Midway’s stunning Unreal Tournament 3. The RTS section comprises Sierra’s World in Conflict and THQ’s Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance as separate competetions.

There are 24 spaces available for teams in each section of the tournament. Teams of 5 are required for the FPS section, whilst a 4-man squad is needed for World in Conflic and a 2-man team for Supreme Commander. The rules that govern the iPower Games can be found here.

The winners of the combined FPS tournament will be heading to France in the summer to play in the Grand Final at 5v5 Call of Duty 4. The winners of each RTS tournament will win cash prizes at i33.

FPS Key info

  • Games Used: Call of Duty 4 Search and Destroy MR12 (rules), Unreal Tournament 3 5v5 Warfare (rules)
  • Tournament Format: Group Stage then Single Elimination
  • Teams: 5v5, same players for both games. 5-man roster only.
  • Overall Scoring: 3 points for a win in each game, 1 point for a draw in each game.
  • Tie Settlement: Percentage ratio of total in-game score. Example:
    • CoD4 18-6, difference would be 75%-25%.
    • UT3 13-7, difference would be 65%-35%.
    • Total difference is 70%-30%.

RTS Key info

  •  World in Conflict 4v4 (rules),  Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance 2v2 (rules)
  • Tournament Format: Group Stage then Single Elimination
  • Prizes for RTS are different to FPS and recieve cash prizes at i33 as opposed to travelling to the grand finals in France.
