Battlefield 2 Tournament Rules

  2. Tournament Format
  3. Game Rules
  1. Admins
    1. Your admin for this tournament will be BigGiantHead
  2. Tournament Format
    1. The format of the tournament will be starting with four groups, the top two from each group will go through to a double elimination phase.
    2. If not enough teams enter to support 4 groups we will drop to 2 groups to ensure clans get more games. Stages, group sizes and so on may be subject to change, dependant on the number of teams entered.
    3. The clans will be seeded as required into different groups. Seeding is the sole discretion of the admin, and will be judged according to performance (actual or perceived) at previous i-series, and according to performance in the Battlefield 2 Community at large. The admin will judge based on a collection of individuals, not based on histories as organised teams.
    4. Each clan will play the other clans in their group once. At the end of the group stage, the first placed teams will play the second placed teams from one of the other divisions.
    5. Each match consists of 2×20 minute rounds over 1 map.
    6. All matches are to be 5 v 5. In the event of a forfeit/default, the winning team will be awarded 100% of the available tickets. The team listed first on the fixture list is to play as USMC in the first round and then ensure they are switched (either automatically or manually) to the other side for the second half of the match.
    7. All Clan Leaders (or their representative) will be informed as to any changes in the schedule. It is up to clans to stay in contact with their clan leader about their next game, and ensure they are in the server and ready to play by the stated time. All matches must start within 15 minutes of the stated time, otherwise the match will start anyway at the discretion of the admin.
    8. All placing squads (1st, 2nd, 3rd) will need to be in full attendance at the Prize Ceremony on Monday if they wish to receive their prize money.
    9. In the event that you cannot field a full team of 5, you may ask your opponent if they will play with less, however the opposing team is within their right to field their full team of 5, no team that has 5 available will be forced to play with less.
    10. It is down to each competitor to ensure that their game is working correctly before the day of the tournament, we recommend that you use the Friday of the event to ensure all is working as it should.
    11. It is your responsibility to ensure you check the schedules on the intranet for your next match.
    12. Please Note: No schedules are final until the match is underway. There are many factors which may affect game start times, but we will do our best to keep everything running to schedule.
    13. Scoring is by tickets, with the final tickets from each round being added together to create the final score. Clan Leaders must at least make a note of the final ticket scores, but screen shots are preferable. This is necessary in order to challenge any errors that may come up through the automated system. Ticket results are important due to the league format of the tournament, and as such, both clan leaders must agree on the final score.
  3. Tournament Rules
    1. Spawn Blocking is NOT permitted
    2. Only the final will have Free-Cam running.
    3. All forms of cheating are strictly prohibited - any player found to be cheating will forfeit the current match for their clan and be removed from the all Multiplay tournaments for the duration of the event, in accordance with the Multiplay Cheating policy.
    4. Macros are not permitted during this tournament, this is classed as cheating.
    5. Hanger camping, base camping and spawn killing are not against the rules. Your best defence is don’t let it happen to you.
    6. Punkbuster WILL be running on all the servers, so you must enable Punkbuster on your client in Multiplayer Options. This facility may be removed at the admin’s discretion pending PunkBuster’s stability at the time. All games must still be played in good faith.
    7. No unlocks will be available for the tournament.
    8. The Tournament will be played in Infantry Mode.
    9. No Commander Mode
    10. There will be NO break between rounds; once a match has started you play both rounds without stopping.
    11. The game will be played using the latest patch available at the start of the tournament, at the admin’s discretion.
    12. The latest patch will be available on the i33 Event FTP.
    13. Battlerecorder will be on and will upload to a site hosted by Multiplay in London, so demos will be accessible after the event. This service is not guaranteed due to the inherent instability of Battlerecorder
    14. When it is necessary the spirit in which the rules are written takes precedence over the written letter. When common sense dictates it exceptions can be made to the tournament rules at the discretion of the Head Admin.
    15. It is impossible to foresee all eventualities and in the event of a situation not covered by the rules the Head Admin will make a decision on the issue in keeping with the spirit of the i-Series tournaments and the interests of fairness. i-Series Battlefield tournaments have always been about fun first, glory second.
    16. All games will be played with the following server settings:
      • Spawn Time: 15s
      • Ticket Ratio: 200
      • Friendly Fire: On
      • Auto Balance: Off
