The biggest ever LAN on UK soil has come to an end. With over 1,600 BYOC participants, i33 pushed the boundaries of what’s become a very familiar venue for many of us at Newbury. Eleven official tournaments were run over the weekend, with a combined prize fund of over £22,000. Birmingham Salvo took home the Counter Strike: Source €5,000 top prize, however the biggest tournament of the weekend was the €6,000 Call of Duty 4 play off, which was won by Dignitas. You can find videos of all the finals over on our Video on Demand page.
The exhibition hall was more impressive than ever with superb displays by Packard Bell, Activision, EA, Ubisoft and many more. Scan had stage and camera crew setup for their Guitar Hero 3 tournament, whereas Intel bought along a full bands worth of musical equipment for people to come down and try out throughout the event.
For now, we say goodbye to Newbury, and welcome in a new age of UK LANs. The new Stoneleigh Park venue will bring us a huge 3,500 square meter hall which will host all 2,000 BYOC participants under one roof, not to mention the huge camping areas, hotel, covered parking area, paintball arena, 4×4 track and much more. i34 has 20% off until 11th April so be sure to check it out.
We hope you all have a great Easter, and look forward to seeing you again in August!
