iPower tournament changes

  • Monday, March 17th, 2008

We have been forced to make a number of changes to the iPower tournament structure. If you plan on entering the tournament then read on for details…

The grand final of the iPower tournament is due to take place at the ESWC Masters in Paris 4th-6th July 2008. At the final teams from all over Europe and beyond are set to compete in two disciplines - FPS and RTS. Unfortunately due to timing restrictions the grand final at ESWC will no longer be able host the RTS competitions, meaning that the winners of the RTS phase at i33 will no longer be travelling to Paris in July.

Naturally this is something Packard Bell and Multiplay regret but the situation is out of our hands as the Grand Final is not in our control.

Packard Bell will instead be splitting the i33 RTS tournament into two separate competitions, WiC and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance and giving guaranteed prize funds of £300 to each. This is in addition to the prize scales that Multiplay currently offer, thus is at least 12 teams in either competition enter then the total prize fund will be £650. If less than 12 enter, the prize fund will be £300.

In addition the Grand Final will only be for Call of Duty 4 and so Packard Bell have made the decision to take the highest placed *UK* team from our €12,000 Call of Duty 4 tournament, rather than running a separate CoD4/UT3 hybrid as planned. This team will be taken to Paris in July to compete in the Grand Finals.

We apologise for such major changes to the tournament at this late stage but we are regrettably forced to react to circumstances beyond our control.
